November 2009 Prayer Letter
Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,
Going Home! As many of you know that coming to the States was temporary. The crisis in Honduras has calmed down and it is safe for us to return. Please pray for Honduras as they will be having free elections on November 29, 2009. We are planning on returning to Honduras on December 8, 2009. We are trying to raise money for our plane tickets in order to return to Honduras. We are excited about what is waiting for us and the ministry opportunities we will have.
We are thanking the Lord that some money has come in for our vehicle fund. Please continue to pray that we will get residency and a vehicle quickly as we return to Honduras. We will be living near or in Tegucigalpa when we arrive in Honduras, but eventually we will live in Campamento. Campamento is the department, or State, of Olancho. Olancho is bigger than the size of El Salvador, geographically. Olancho has five hundred thousand people and there are no foreign missionaries in Olancho. I know of one gospel preaching church in Olancho. This is an exciting opportunity before us.
Our son Gabriel Ryan Jacobo was born on September 26, 2009. He weighed nine pounds eleven ounces. We have the necessary paperwork and we have applied for his passport and will have it before Thanksgiving. The Lord has taught us a lot about waiting on Him. It was an extremely difficult decision for our family about returning to the States, but I believe it was the right one.
I praise the Lord for a sending pastor that gives me godly wisdom and guidance. A pastor asked me to preach in Spanish on a big day they were having. Over 60 Spanish speaking people attended the service and sixteen people were saved. That was the biggest crowd of Spanish speaking people I have preached to. One person who attended received his first Bible ever. He has been in the States for two years and is now on “fire” for the Lord. I am thankful for the experiences we have had and the lessons we learned, but we are excited to be going back to Honduras.
Please pray for our safe return and thank you for your prayers and support through this difficult transition.
Missionary to Honduras,
